The Hurricanes are celebrating 12 players, including uncapped prop Siale Lauaki, named in the All Blacks squad for the upcoming Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Tour of South Africa.
All 11 Hurricanes who featured in the recent Nations Championship wins over France, Italy, and Ireland – Xavier Numia, Asafo
Aumua, Tyrel Lomax, Pasilio Tosi, Peter Lakai, Cam Roigard, Ruben Love, Jordie Barrett, Billy Proctor, Fehi Fineanganofo, and Josh Moorby – have been retained in the 44-man squad named today.They are joined by Lauaki, who has earned his maiden All Blacks call-up for the eight-match tour.
A highly-touted product of the club’s development system, Lauaki first signed with the Hurricanes three years ago. The 23-year-old, who can play on both sides of the scrum, has since played 17 Super Rugby Pacific matches and featured 13 times during this year's title-winning campaign.
The All Blacks assemble in Auckland on Monday before departing for South Africa on Wednesday and Thursday.
Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry tour kicks off with a match between the All Blacks and Stormers in Cape Town next Saturday NZT. The tour also features matches against the Sharks, Bulls, and Lions, and is headlined by a four-test series against the Springboks.
The first three tests will be played in Johannesburg and Cape Town, with the fourth test to be played Baltimore, USA.
