European Mid-Winter Christmas Festival

Riverside Market's annual European Mid-Winter Christmas Festival is back, and this

year we're bringing you an even bigger celebration filled with festive magic, live entertainment, family fun, delicious food, and plenty of Christmas cheer.

Over the weekend Riverside Market will be transformed into a charming European winter wonderland complete with live performances, roaming characters, festive activities, market stalls, real snow, and picture-perfect photo opportunities throughout the market.

Opening of the Ukrainian Children’s Book Collection

Celebrate the launch of the new Ukrainian Children's Collection at Tūranga!

This special launch event marks an exciting milestone for Christchurch City Libraries and offers a wonderful opportunity to discover Ukrainian language resources while experiencing the richness of Ukrainian culture.

The event will include:

  • An official launch and welcome
  • A unique theatrical storytelling performance presented by the Ukrainian School
  • Children's craft activities
  • A live choir performance

The storytelling performance is designed to be engaging and enjoyable for children of all ages and backgrounds, offering a fun and interactive introduction to Ukrainian stories, language, and culture.

The collection will be available to borrow at Tūranga from the Childern’s collection on Hapori | Community Level 1. There are a range of books for children including board books, fairy tales and legends, non-fiction, and books for older kids like Harry Potter!
