Grimaldi takes bronze in 100m

Anna Grimaldi, one of New Zealand's most decorated para athletes, grabbed a bronze medal in the women's 100m T47 final.

Grimaldi had to work hard for her medal. She was timed at 12.46s, some way behind the winner, Sheriauna Haase of Canada, who clocked 12.23s.

The 29-year-old New Zealander was in a

private battle for the bronze with Sri Lankan Janini Wickramasingha, who finished in 12.50s, just a click of the fingers behnd her.

Competing for New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games, Grimaldi seemed delighted and proud afterwards, which is a tribute to the team atmosphere in the New Zealand camp.

After all, Grimaldi is no stranger to winning on the big stage. She's won gold medals at the last three Paralympics, starting in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. She's also won seven world championship medals since 1919.

The Dunedin athlete is equally adept and the long jump as the sprints.
